James H. "Jimmy" Smith Jr.

SMITH, JAMES H. "JIMMY," JR., 56, formerly of Brandenburg, KY, entered into eternal life Wednesday, February 15, 2012.

Jimmy was born March 19, 1955 in Lewisburg, TN to Marjorie D. Smith and the late James H. Smith, Sr. Jimmy was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a former Firefighter in Louisville, KY and Fresno, CA. He was a veteran of the Fresno, CA Police Dept., where he received the Medal of Valor for his action preformed in the line of duty. He was also a Member of the Southeast Christian Church and was an active member in the Indiana and Kentucky Emmaus Communities. His primary passion was in prison ministry.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Diana Smith; son, James H. Smith, III; stepdaughter, Jennifer Smith; mother, Margie Smith; sisters, Linda (Gary) Timberlake, Sandi (Mike) Pike and Janet Martin (Frank Pack); brothers, Mark (Debbie) Smith and Paul (Susan) Smith; five grandchildren; mentor and friend, Don Westfall; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. EST Monday, February 20, 2012 from the Chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home with burial to follow in Cap Anderson Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. EST Sunday, February 19, 2012 and after 8:30 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
