AIKIN, JAMES TAYLOR "TED," 87, of West Point, KY, passed away August 30, 2013.

He was retired master sergeant from the U.S. Army after 26 years of service. He was a P.O.W. in World War II, surviving the Bataan Death March in the Philippines and the voyage on one of the Hell Ships. He was also the owner of the Aikin's Service Station and Game Room for 30 years. Ted was a member of The American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor, West Point American Legion Post #148, Valley Station VFW Post #1181, Elizabethtown DAV, Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, Past West Point City Council member and the West Point Baptist Church.

His greatest love was for his wife, family and country.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Jackie Ruth Wright; children, Glenn Aikin (Barbara), Dale Aikin (Brenda), Debra Aikin, Teddi Aikin Blanford and Jacky Aikin (Melissa); 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

His service will be noon Saturday at the W. G. Hardy Funeral Home and Cremation Service with burial following in Garnettsville Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3-8 p.m., Friday from noon- 8 p.m. and on Saturday after 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
