RANKIN, JOHN TAYLOR, 31, of New York, NY, died Wednesday November 21, 2012.

Taylor was born in Louisville and graduated from Trinity High School, Class of 1999 and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Class of 2003, where he was a member of the Chi Phi fraternity. He worked for Commonwealth Bank and Trust in Louisville, followed by Eclipse Bank where he assisted in the formation of the bank. During his local banking career he attended the Kenan Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he received a master's in business administration. After working in Shanghai, China for several years, he returned to New York, NY where he was an Associate at the investment banking firm Lazard.
Taylor was a former member of the Board of Family and Children's Place and a current member of St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, Pendennis Club and Louisville Country Club.
Taylor is survived by his parents, R. Alex and Sarah T. Rankin; his brother and sister-in-law, Hunter A. and Audra N. Rankin; his grandmother, Mary Emily Thompson; and many aunts uncles and cousins.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church 6710 Wolf Pen Branch Road (at Hwy 42) with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the church. Arrangements under the direction of Pearson's.
