Kim Perkins Obituary

Kim A. Perkins, 59, of Louisville, passed away into eternal life on Friday, February 13, 2004, at Norton Audubon Hospital. She was born December 8, 1944, to the late Alice A. and Leslie W. Perkins Sr. She was a Christian and professed her faith and trust in God. Kim owned and operated the Kim Perkins Dance Studio from 1963 to the mid-1980s. Fine arts and classical ballet were among her many talents, achievements and loves of life. Kim danced as a young lady on the old Hi Varieties TV show, Crusade for Children and had a brief stint with the June Taylor Dancers in New York, NY. After her retirement from her dance studio, she entered into a retail career and was employed with Dillard's in Louisville. "Kim was quite a personality, friendly, vibrant, outgoing and her smile could truly light up a room with her presence. She will be very missed and not forgotten by all those who loved and knew her." She is survived by her daughter, Cyonne Ward Heller; a stepson, Kevin R. Ward; four grandchildren, Allyson, Kimberly, Lauryn and Brent; a brother, Leslie W. Perkins Jr.; a niece; two nephews; her former husband, A. Ray Ward; and her friend, Mike Hendrickson. Funeral services for Kim will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2004, at Arch L. Heady & Son Hikes Point Home, with interment in Louisville Memorial Gardens-West. Visitation will be held from 1-9 p.m. Sunday and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the WHAS Crusade for Children or Kosair Charities.
