Dr.  Ollie Bennett Emerine Obituary
ELIZABETHTOWN - Emerine, Dr. Ollie Bennett, 83, died Friday, May 10, 2013 at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Carresville, KY on July 29, 1929 and graduated from Vine Grove High School in 1947. He attended the Western Kentucky University and graduated from the University of Kentucky School of Pharmacy in 1951 and University of Louisville Medical School in 1956. He was a former partner in Woodland Medical Clinic in Elizabethtown for 15 years before joining the Navy.

He retired from the U.S. Navy where he was a captain and a flight surgeon. He graduated from the U. S. War College, was a commanding officer of the Dispensary in Cecil Fields, FL, a former Executive Officer of the Lemore NAS, former commanding officer of Memphis Naval Hospital and Uniform Services Disability Board in Washington, DC and former CO at the Dispensary at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, the Stephensburg Masonic Lodge #212, the Kentucky Academy of Family Practice, the Uniform Services of Family Physicians and the Kentucky Medical Association. He was a Kentucky Colonel.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard W. Emerine; his parents, Ado Jacob and Callie Foster Emerine; his stepmother, who raised him, Viva Grace Foster; a sister, Mabel Gertrude Lewis; and a grandchild, Matthew Price Emerine.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Duncan Emerine; two sons, Gary Keith Emerine (Nancy) of Birmingham, AL and Craig Bennett Emerine (Angie) and the mother of his children, Linda of Elizabethtown; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Sullivan Emerine Biccum of Ocean Side, CA; one brother, Keith O. Emerine (Ruth Anne) of Vine Grove; a brother-in-law, Terrell Lewis of Vine Grove and nine grandchildren The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Gibbons, Rev. J. D. Shipp and Rev. Matthew Kimmons officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and continue after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home. There will be a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Monday.
