JEFERSONVILLE - Lentz, Robert A. "Bob," 84, a fifth-generation resident of Clark County, died October 4, 2012 in Jeffersonville, IN.

Robert earned a B.A. in journalism from Indiana University-Bloomington, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, Sigma Delta Chi honorary journalism fraternity and the Marching Hundred Band. He was sports editor of the Indiana Daily Student. Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later worked for The Louisville Times, Ford Motor Company, Indiana University Southeast (IUS), and the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR) over the course of a long career as a journalist and administrator. He retired in 1997. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Clarksville, IN, the Jeffersonville Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 362, Jeff Elks Golf Association (charter member), the Indiana University Alumni Association (life member) and Indiana University Varsity Club. He was also a member of the Louisville Society of Professional Journalists (founding member), the International Association of Business Communicators, and the Louisville Downtown Rotary Club. Robert enjoyed golf as a participant and spectator, and was a lifelong fan of Jeffersonville High School and Indiana University football and basketball. He was an active member of his Jeffersonville High School Class of 1945 alumni group. He was preceded in death by his parents, Culmer Prather Lentz (1901-1993) and Ruth Elaine (Sage) Lentz (1902-1994).

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen (Schafer) Lentz; son, Stephen Christopher Lentz, both of Jeffersonville; daughter, Anne Marie (Lentz) Griffin, her husband, Scott; and grandsons, William Henry Griffin and Charles Robert Griffin, all of Fishers, IN; sister, Mary Elaine Shean (John) of Jeffersonville; a niece and nephews.

Funeral services for Robert A. "Bob" Lentz, 84, of Jeffersonville, IN, will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2012 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Clarksville, with burial in New Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Scott Funeral Home.
