He was a retired brakeman for the CSX Railroad, a member of Abraham Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Post 229, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6182, and an Army veteran of the Korean War. Robert was an avid Harley rider, and belonged to the Ky Bikers Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Noamia Blanton.
He is survived by a son, Robert Blanton, Jr., (Maria); daughters, Debbie Austin and Gina Cummings (Jeffrey); and grandchildren, Rachel, Jessica, and Charles.
A service to celebrate Mr. Blanton's life will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday in the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with entombment to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday.
