HILLERICH, DR. ROBERT L., (1927-2013) Professor Emeritus, Bowling Green State University, passed away November 14, 2013 at age 86.
He was an elementary school teacher, principal, assistant superintendent and college professor. Internationally known in the field of the teaching of reading and writing, authoring over 200 articles in professional journals, 5 books, a nationally used kindergarten program, a 1-8 grade spelling/writing program, and two beginner dictionaries.
A World War II Navy veteran, he retired as Captain, USNR and a Rear Commodore West in Florida USCG Aux.
A resident of Palm Harbor and lately of Brooksville, he requested that his ashes be spread off Sand Key in the Gulf of Mexico.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy and five children, Connie, Judy, Robert Jr., Patty, and Dan; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was a good man and will be missed.
