ADAMS, STEPHENS PATRICK "STEVE," 91, of Louisville, returned to his Heavenly Father Monday, March 7, 2011 at Signature Healthcare East.

He was born July 15, 1919 in Mayking, KY. He was the second of five children born to G. Bennett Adams and Ella Combs Adams. Stephen was a World War II Army Air Corps. veteran.

After serving his country, he received his Teaching Certificate from Morehead State and his B.A. and law degree from the University of Louisville Law School. He had been a teacher and principal of the Mayking School in Letcher County. He later joined General Motors as a claims supervisor. He then established a law practice Adams, Nicholas, Welch and Vandeventer. After retirement he enjoyed traveling, gardening and teaching Sunday School and serving his church, West Broadway Baptist Church and also volunteering at the V.A. Hospital. He was a member of the Gideon International and the Jeffersontown Masonic Lodge # 774.

He leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life and wife of 68 years, Bertha (Lucas) Adams; sons, Donn P. and Terry D. Adams: brother Dr. Billy Adams; grandchildren, Dock Adams and Jesse T. Adams; and a host of nieces and nephews.

His Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. Please visit
