I had the pleasure to know Dr. Myers and have my first published laboratory research project under his supervision, a few years ago. He was respected and loved by everyone that knew him. May he rest in peace.

Dr. Myers was an excellent pharmacology professor and one of my favorite instructors. When I didn't grasp a concept during lecture, he always took the time after class to explain it to me in a thoughtful manner that I could understand. I will always be grateful for the knowledge he shared with my colleagues and I and for his kindness. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I have known Steve for the past 9 years as a friendly colleague and mentor. He always found time to help, and we still had some work plans in the making before death took him away.
As tough as this could be to dry tears and calm hearts, I can attest that through his children and students and colleagues, he will be forever remembered.
I miss you already, Steve!
My sincere condolences to his wife and children.

I joined University of Louisville of Medicine 2 years after Steve. I would run into Steve in elevators, in seminars and around campus. He always had an easy smile and seemed energetic and jolly. I never thought he would pass away young. He was so full of life and happiness. When I last saw him, I never imagined that it was the last time. My deepest sympathies to the family and close friends of Steve. May his soul rest in peace, he be remembered and his good work continue on.

I worked with Dr. Myers over the last several years in educating our U of L medical students and working on large-scale curriculum improvements. we are all shocked and saddened that he is suddenly gone and want to could help his family as they go through this loss. He always spoke of his children and family with such a fond smile on his face and was truly one of the most upbeat and kind colleagues you could imagine. His love and enjoyment of his family was evident every time he spoke of them. He was very generous with his time for students or colleagues that needed help and was always willing to try something new to educate our students. He served the university at all levels and was a very dedicated faculty member to all missions of the university. His teaching responsibilities were huge and he leaves behind many colleagues and students who think of him and smile as they miss him. He will be missed greatly here at U of L!

Dear Jane, Alex and Katie:
Please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of Dr. Myers. Words cannot even begin to express our sorrow. May you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you. Dr. Myers was an outstanding scientist and a great human being. He was a very honest person. He was very positive. He loved everyone. He wished everyone the best. God bless his sole. I am sure that he will be in heaven with the prophets and holy men. I know Dr. Myers since 1982 when both of us worked together in Dr. James Flesher as the University of Kentucky Medical School. I left Lexington, KY in 1983 and we kept in contact with Dr Myers on a regular basis until three weeks ag.. We met regularly in various scientific meetings and talked to each other on weekly and biweekly basis. Last year we met Cairo and spent one week together interacting and providing scientific training to our colleagues at various universities in Egypt. I always noticed the positive energy, outstanding science, love and care that Dr. Myers was able to offer to other people. He formed a big network of international students, friends and colleagues who loved and admired Dr. Myers. I hope the great achievement and outstanding personality of Dr. Myers works as an inspiring force for Alex and Katie to follow Dr. Myers steps. God bless his sole and bless all his family and gives everyone the patience to go through this tough time.
