BUCKEL, SYLVESTER WILLIAM, 103, passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center in Jeffersontown, KY He was born in Louisville, KY on August 19, 1910. He was a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, a talented artist and long time member of the Palette Club, volunteered for many years in the Art Exhibits at the KY State Fair, and was retired from the maintenance department of the DuPont Chemical Company were he worked for 33 years.

Many thanks to the staff of the Good Samaritan Center for their kindness and compassion.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Lillian Sorrell Buckel; brothers, Henry (Bud) and Bernard (Boots) Buckel; and stepson, Alan Leras.

He is survived by his sons, Bill (Mary) and Louis (Patricia) Buckel; his niece, Sandra Callahan; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with many good and faithful friends and neighbors.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 760 Eastern Parkway with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Embry-Bosse Funeral Home 2723 Preston Highway Memorial gifts may be made Mass of the Air or Little Sisters of the Poor.
