HICKS, DR. WADE BRYANT, 88, of Louisville went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 12, 2014.
He was a retired professor of Christian Missions at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Hicks was a United States Navy veteran, member of Lyndon Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He was a graduate of University of North Carolina, received his Masters of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, formerly served as pastor of Buck Run Baptist Church outside of Frankfort, and served as a Missionary in the Philippines for 10 years with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Elijah and Jessie Hicks; and two brothers, Dr. Lige Hicks and Dr. Myers Hicks.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Peggy G. Hicks; son, Wade B. Hicks Jr. (Marian); daughter, Bonnie Hicks Ginter (Brownie); son, Dr. Lee Greene Hicks (Debbie); brother, Dr. Robin Hicks (Julia); eight grandchildren, Camden Ginter, Wade B. Hicks III (Jenny), Cori Ginter Hill (Ben), Scott Hicks (Amanda), Cody Ginter (Justine) Hunter Hicks, Kaylee Hicks, and Emily Hicks; three and one-half great-grandchildren, Alethea Hill, Owen Hicks, Declan Hill and Baby Girl Ginter.
Memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Lyndon Baptist Church, 8025 New Lagrange Road. Visitation: 9:30a.m. Saturday until the service. Arrangements: Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village. Memorial gifts may be made to Lyndon Baptist church for Missions or Woman's Missionary Union
