HAMMER, WILLIAM D. SR., 93, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the Little Sisters of the Poor.

He was a retired self employed Certified Public Accountant and a devout member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
He graduated from Manual High School in 1937 and was a founding member of Hurstbourne Country Club. His extensive volunteer work included the Little Sisters of the Poor, Sister Visitor Program, Kentucky Right to Life and the Schuhmann Center.
His incredible work ethic was a source of pride to him, but his greatest source of joy was his family. He was a loyal friend to many.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Joan W. Hammer; his children, Father William D. Hammer, Jr., Robert G. Hammer, MD (Andrea), Thomas Joseph Hammer (Amy), Mary Beth Hammer, Meg Hammer Adams (Kevin), and Joan Ellen Hammer; his loving grandchildren, Amy C. Hammer, Rebecca E. Hammer, Laura C. Hammer, Stuart T. Hammer, Elizabeth Claire Hammer, Melissa C. Hammer, Sarah B. Adams, Paul K. Adams and Annie M. Adams.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3345 Lexington Road, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012 at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Rd., and at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
