NEW ALBANY - BAKER, GEORGE W. "PAPAW," JR., 83, died Monday, June 21, 2010 at Providence Retirement Home.

George was a retired officer with the New Albany Police Department for some 22 years and was formerly a motorcycle officer. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II.

Survivors include son, Richard Baker (Sherri), of Lanesville, IN; daughters, Georgetta Young, of New Albany and Ruth Ann Nelson (Larry), of New Haven, KY; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Baker (Jean), of Greenville, IN; and sister, Billie Hartlage, of Florida.

Funeral: noon Friday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, with full military honors and private burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. Visitation: 2-8 p.m. Thursday and after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
