GEOGHEGAN, FRANKLIN, 90, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Golden Living St. Matthews.

He was born December 9, 1923 in Nelson County, KY, the son of Frank S. and Ida M. Geoghegan. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife and the love of his life, Shirley Geoghegan.

Franklin was a Biology Teacher at the Kentucky Country Day School for many years where he took a special interest in Environmental Education. He was a longtime member of Melbourne Heights Baptist Church and a World War II United States Army veteran and a graduate of Male High School, Kentucky Southern College and Western Michigan University.

He leaves to cherish his memory two nephews, Steven and Dan Geoghegan; his great niece and nephew, who he thought of as grandchildren, Travis and Cassie Geoghegan and two great-nephews, Kurt and Tim Geoghegan; as well as a very close family member, Amey Geoghegan.

A service to celebrate Franklin's life will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2014 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village 7410 Westport Rd. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of customary expressions, donations may be given to Habitat for Humanity.
