GOOMEY, JOYCE MITCHELL, returned to her Heavenly Father on Friday, February 21, 2014 at her home with her husband and children at her side.

We celebrate this long and happy life of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, "Dee, Dee", sister and friend to so many.

She was incredibly dedicated to her family. They were her life and the reason for going on in all the Lord sent her. She loved her heavenly Father, his son Jesus Christ and looked forward to reuniting with her loved ones for eternity. Joyce retired from Semonin Realty and was very devoted to her clients and co-workers.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Meyer (Lillian) and Nellintine Gillespey (Arthur) and a stepson Danny Goomey.

She was the devoted wife of James Goomey and mother to Donald Mitchell, Kathleen Allen, Carrie Pike (Don), Kim Wilson (John) and Christy Austin; stepchildren David and Denis Goomey, Debra Bradshaw and Deena Brown; sisters, Gayle Rooney, Sherry Dickson, Terry Usula, Lynn Miles, Debbie Wise and Sandy White; brothers, Raymond and Jack Meyer; grandchildren, Billy and Tyler Smith, Wesley Chapman and her life line, Andrew Pike, Josh and Joe Wilson, Summer and Autumn Austin and a great- grandchild, Aliyah Brown. In addition there are 10 stepgrandchildren and 19 step-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Doering and his marvelous staff for their years of compassionate loving care that they extended to our family. A special thanks to Cheryl Leathers for her eight years of devoted care.

A funeral to celebrate Joyce's life will be conducted at 11a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at South East Christian Church. Visitation will be held Monday, February 24, 2014 from 1-8 p.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd and after 9 a.m. at church the day of the service.
