JUNKIN, JUANITA LOUISE, 97, formerly of south Louisville, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014.
She was the former Juanita Brehme and was baptized at a young age at South Louisville Christian Church, a graduate of Louisville Girls High School. Before she was married she worked as a cashier at Blue Boar Cafeteria. She was a housewife and bridge enthusiast - an early member of Bloomer Girls Bridge Club. She loved to try new things and was fascinated by innovation. She was almost always cheerful, but happiest when reading a new book. She enjoyed planting and tending her flower garden.
She excelled in giving and was generous to all her family and many charities. She entertained each Christmas Eve, making the holidays into special memories for her family. Juanita was a talented crafter and skilled at counted cross stitch, doll clothes for her nieces, dried flower arrangements and block printed Christmas cards. She was a wonderful cook and prepared many special meals and decorated cakes for her extended family to celebrate birthdays.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, John Ira Junkin; and her sisters, Lillian May Brehme and Bertha Koerner Magee.
She is survived by her sister, Edna Koerner Ragsdale. Also left to cherish the memory of our beloved Aunt Nee are nieces, Marsha Cox and Susan McCwain; nephews, Michael Magee and John Lloyd Magee; eight great and 11 great-great-nieces and nephews.
