WASHBURN, CORA MAE (WILLIAMS), 78, was summoned to her Heavenly home on Monday, April 7, 2014. She was the daughter of Floyd Williams Sr., and Mary E. Williams of Louisville, KY. Cora was the Choir Organist for Spillman Memorial Church for over 25 years and previously served as the President of the Fellowship of Choirs. She retired from the U.S. Census Bureau. She was a dedicated community advocate for the Park DuValle/Ujima Neighborhood Assoc..

Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick) Washburn; and daughter, Toretha Powell.

She is survived by her son, George (Randy) Powell Jr.; sisters, Gloria Bray and Saundra Wallace; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be held at A.D. Porter Funeral Home, 1300 W. Chestnut on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Homegoing celebration services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Spillman Memorial Church, 2118 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd., at 11 a.m.
