Walter R. McCord Obituary
McCORD, WALTER R., 96, died Monday, April 28, 2014.

He was born November 11, 1917 to Dr. and Mrs. James R. McCord of Atlanta. He was educated at Lyceum Alpinum, Zuoz, Switzerland. He served in the U.S. Army as a combat newsreel photographer covering four major battles from Omaha Beach till the end of the war in Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge and the Liberation of Paris. In 1946, he married the former Betty Brooke Fulton. He was Secretary of the Kentucky Association of Independent Insurance Agents and owner of McCord Photo Arts, a commercial photographic studio. He was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church for 63 years, serving as vestryman and Senior Warden.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, and children, Walter Jr., David and Marion; grandchildren, Brooke, Stephen, and Dillon; and great-grandson, Eli.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 330 N. Hubbards Lane. The family will greet friends before the service at the church.
