SCHAF, SISTER FRANCES (BIBIANA) OSU, 85, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Mercy Sacred Heart in Louisville, KY.

She was born in David City, NE, and entered the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville in 1947. She graduated from Ursuline College, Louisville, with a B.A. in mathematics, from Notre Dame University with a M.A. in mathematics and from St. Louis University with a M. Ed. in Education Administration.

In Louisville, Sister Frances taught at Holy Spirit (1949-1950) and St. Ann (1950-1952) Parish Schools, Ursuline Academy (1956-1957) and Ursuline College (1957-1962). She taught and administered at elementary and secondary schools and served in pastoral ministries at several parishes in Maryland, Nebraska, South Dakota, West Virginia and Wyoming from the 1950s through 2000. Since 2011, she resided at Mercy Sacred Heart, where she continued her ministry of prayer and presence.

She is survived by her brothers, Joseph H. and Leo E. Schaf; her sister, Alice Schaf Didier; nieces and nephews; and her Ursuline Community.

Visitation will be at the Ursuline Motherhouse, 3115 Lexington Road, on Monday, May 5, 2014 from 4-7 p.m., followed by a Vigil service at 7 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel with burial in St. Michael Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bosse Funeral Home.
