PATTERSON, WILLIAM D. "BILL," 81, of Louisville passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014.

He was a former member of St. Matthias Parish and current member at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish.

Bill was a graduate of St. Xavier High School (Class of 1951). He was a veteran of the Korean War and a grateful member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Bill worked for American Airlines and retired from Philip Morris in 1993 after 22 years.

Bill loved working in his garden with his prize worthy rose bushes. Pinwheels, Bounty paper towels, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, Folgers coffee, Graeter's strawberry ice cream cones with a cherry on top, and Johnny Cash were also among the many simple pleasures he shared and enjoyed with his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory, his wife of 62 years Judy, his brother Rollen, his six children Bill (Barb), Charlie, Mary Shaughnessy (Dan), Tony (Julie), Donald, and Fred. He will also be missed by his 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1-8p.m. Wednesday at Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Highway. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 5505 New Cut Road at 10 a.m. Thursday with entombment services to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Hospital or Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
