LINDEY, EARL, 84, passed away peacefully at Oaklawn.

He was born in the Bronx, NY to the late Robert and Deborah Pincus Lindey. Earl was retired from L. M. Berry Co. as a district manager.

An avid U of L fan, Earl also enjoyed golfing at Nevel Meade, his friends at the Elks, and over the years, owned and raced several thoroughbreds at Churchill Downs.

He was a loving and caring husband to his wife Gloria, who passed away August 24, 2013. His daughter, Ede Martin Lloyd also preceded him in death.

Earl also cared deeply about his family and friends whom he has left behind.

A special thank you to his caregiver Deborah Young and his neighbors, the Kevin Stengel family, all of whom have so graciously cared and tended to both Earl and Gloria's needs over the years.

He is survived by his son, Richard G. Hogan; son-in-law, Amos Martin (Kathy); three grandchildren, Rick Martin (Leigh Ann), Amy Elliott (Rob) and Krissy Martin; four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Halle, Tessa and Evan; two special cousins, Frances Coopersmith and Ann Roberts, both of whom Earl had fond memories growing up as children on the beach in New Jersey; and a niece, Mary Ann Gray (Bruce).

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road, with a memorial service immediately following. Burial will be private at Cave Hill Cemetery.
