LOGSDON, EVELYN RITA, 88, of Louisville, passed away Friday July 4, 2014 at the Forum at Brookside, Louisville.
Rita was born August 30, 1925 the second eldest daughter of Lillian Brown and John Brown. Rita was a lifelong resident of Louisville. She was married to her loving second husband Stanley E. Logsdon for 47 years.
Rita graduated from Bethlehem Academy in Elizabethtown, KY, as valedictorian of her class of 1939. Rita was an avid enthusiast of art and travel for many youthful years, supporting local plays, music, and the ballet, having been a beautiful ballerina in her youth as well. Rita also was an animal enthusiast and was an avid supporter to the Humane Society.
Rita was survived by and blessed with three children; Marilyn Parker and Larry Best. Rita is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Matt Best, Brandon Detoma, Camron Detoma, Lauren Parker and Wes Parker. Rita was preceded in death by her daughter; Geri DeToma, brother, Dr. Jack Brown and sister; Helen Payne.
Her funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday July 8, 2014 at the Church of the Epiphany 914 Old Harrords Creek Road, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery to follow. Visitation will be 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday at Ratterman Funeral Home 12900 Shelbyville Road, East Louisville, KY 40243.
