WELLS, VIRGINIA LOIS, 85, of Louisville, peacefully passed in her home to be with her loving Heavenly Father on Wednesday, 2 July, 2014, after her long courageous fight. Her unwavering faith in Christ, lives on as a testament for all who knew her to follow.
She is preceded in passing by her parents, Knowles Howard Shaw Sr. and Virginia Lois Reno, her brother, Kay Shaw and sister, Betty Jean Kaufmann.
Lois was born on June 14, 1929. She graduated from Fern Creek High School in 1946 and served as a member of the Alumni Association. She was an independent businesswoman for over 60 years, owning a shoe repair shop, working as a skilled cobbler, a contractor with the Jefferson County Board of Education and owning an interior design and decorating studio. She was a dedicated member of Evangel World Prayer Center, Sister's In Christ and a neighborhood women's bible study group.
Lois is survived by her siblings, Edward Shaw (Debbie), Patricia Haney (Trenton) and Freida Eggleton (Leo); her children, Kenneth Kessler (Georgia), David Kessler (Silvia), Marc Kessler (Karen), Teri Hansen (David), and Linda Felts (Drue); 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends and people that she has touched. Her banana croquettes, bar-b-que and ambrosia will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 9 July, 2014 at Arch L. Heady & Son, 7410 Westport Road, from 11am-6pm with an open dedication to Lois' life from 6-8 p.m.
