McGuire, Nellie Jo Moon,

77, passed away Thursday, July 10th, 2014 at Oaklawn Health & Rehabilitation with her family by her side.

She was born in Arab, Alabama on January 21, 1937 and was a member of the Baptist Church.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Victoria Moon.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, John E. McGuire; sons, John D. McGuire (Shannon), Mark E. McGuire, and Scott M. McGuire (Melissa). Also surviving are five grandchildren; siblings, Evelyn Raabe, Leon Moon (Linda), Leona Tatum and Bobby Moon (Virginia); and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was a loving and devoted wife, caring mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed spending time with close friends playing bridge, bowling, and golfing. She was dedicated to her job as a legal secretary for over 30 years.

Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 15th, 2014 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Rd., East Louisville, KY 40243 with burial will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 14th, at the funeral home.

The family appreciates the outstanding care given to her by the nurses and especially Dr. Ignacio Montes at Louisville Consultants in Blood Disorders and Cancer as well as the staff at Oaklawn.
