Meers, John Tilden , Jr..,

88, passed away, Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

He was the owner and operator of Meers Tire Center for several years, was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church, a World War II Navy veteran, having served in the Navy Seabees, a 65 year member of the Buffalo Lodge

#570 F & AM, co-founder of the Buffalo Lions Club, former Buffalo Volunteer Fire Chief, a Kosair Shriner, and an active community leader, who was instrumental in promoting the town of Buffalo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John T. Meers, Sr. and Francis Shaw Meers, and a sister, Aileen Dietz.

He is survived by his wife, Genrose Polley Meers, three sons, Charles R. (Dr. Fran Brennan) Meers of Louisville, J.T. (Patsy Thomas) Meers and Dale (Kay) Meers all of Buffalo, a sister, Phyllis Eckerle of Louisville, three brothers, Boyce (Eva) Meers of Clarksville, TN, David

Paul (Roxie) Meers of Louisville, and Rev. Harold G. (Shirley) Meers of Illinois, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Harold G. Meers officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Friday, and after 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
