Greenwell, William Norvin,

75, died Friday, July 18, 2014 after a long battle with cancer.

Bill graduated with the first class of Trinity High School and earned degrees from Jefferson Community College and the University of Louisville. He retired from B.F. Goodrich Chemical/Zeon Chemicals , was a former officer with the Louisville Police Department, an Army veteran and member of Highview Fire Department for 19 years. He served as chief fire department coordinator for the Crusade for Children, was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus All Saints Council and Assembly 308 serving as Council Grand Knight for two terms. Bill was a member of the Spencer County Republican Party as well as a member of Spencer County Fire Department Board of Trustees.

He was predeceased by parents, William M. "John" and Mary Louise Greenwell; brother, Robert J. Greenwell; sister, Elizabeth Greenwell; and beloved daughter, Diane Marie Rizzo.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 42 years, Linda Sue; sons, Lawrence Greenwell (Lynn), S. Dale (Cindi) and T. Kevin (Christy) Thompson; grandchildren, Robbie and Leslie Rizzo, Palmer, McKenzie and Kole Thompson; honorary grandchildren, Kassidy, Trey and Caley Waldridge and Brendan Soto; and great grandchildren, Nathan and Lacey Rizzo.

His funeral is 10 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church, 410 Main Cross Street, Taylorsville with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is noon-8 p.m. Tuesday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road.
