Korfhage, Raymond E. "Pete",
81 entered into eternal life on Saturday August 2, 2014 with family by his side.
Born in Louisville, he was a graduate of Saint Xavier High School and a member of the Pioneer Class of Bellarmine University. Upon graduation, he served with the US Army at Fort Knox. He then went on to run Korfhage Hardware and Floor Covering for 52 years, treating every employee as family and serving each customer with the same compassionate value system that defined him as a person. He was a member of Guardian Angels Parish for nearly 40 years before joining St. Agnes Parish several years ago.
His loves in life were his wife and family, his work, his Catholic faith, playing golf and cards, telling jokes, coaching, and dancing at every opportunity with his wife, Peggy.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Louise (Ising); his brother Roger Korfhage and his sister, Juanita Glover.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Peggy D. Korfhage (Oster); his children Don (Mary K.), Doug (Patti), Gary, and Linda Dauenhauer (Paul); grandchildren Matt, Vinnie, Patrick, Brian, Adam, Jaclyn, Mackenzie, Haydon and Brooks, and great-grandchildren Nolan and Isaac.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday August 6, 2014 at St. Agnes Church, 1920 Newburg Road with burial to follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Highlands Funeral Home at 3331 Taylorsville, Road.
