Metcalf, Theodore Z.,

96, of Louisville, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014.

Born in Lafayette, IN, he was a decorated U.S. Navy World War II veteran and manager of Bell South Telephone Co. for 41 years. He was a member of the Lions Club, American Legion Post #201, Masonic Lodge in Harlan, KY, and charter member of Woodhaven Country Club. He was an elder at the Meadowview Presbyterian Church, a watercolor artist, and avid golfer.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Carr Metcalf; and sisters, Doris and Alleene

Ted is survived by his wife of 30 years, Virginia Metcalf; sons, Theodore "Ted" Metcalf II (Mirjam) and Gary Metcalf (Linda); stepsons, Douglas Noel (Ginny) and Gary Noel (Barbara); 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2014 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday at Highlands.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to his church, or Kosair Children's Hospital.

What a profound loss! A true class act of a man. Definitely one of the biggest positive influences in our lives. The world will not be the same.
