Strubel, David Garnet,
80, of Louisville, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014, at Baptist Health Oncology Unit.
Born in Louisville, he was a graduate of Saint Xavier High School and a member of St. Margaret Mary Parish. He received a master's degree in chemical engineering from Louisville Speed Scientific School, was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, a licensed professional engineer and a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. He retired from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation with over 30 years in the Research & Development Department. He was an avid reader and U of L fan. We will forever miss his fantastic memory and knowledge.
David is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Osborne, to whom he would have been married 57 years on Sunday, August 17; two sons, David (Monica) and Daniel; two daughters, Rose Strubel & Mary Clare Jodrie (Larry); three grandchildren, Courtney Strubel, Christine Robinson (Peter) and Sean Jodrie; sister, Della Maher (Joseph); sister-in-law, Dorothy Osborne and brother-in-law, Rev. Robert E. Osborne, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, 3-8 p.m. at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Margaret Mary Church, 7813 Shelbyville Rd., with the burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the caring staff on the Oncology floor at Baptist Health Hospital.
