Oakes, Virginia May Garr,

92, of Fairdale, KY, went to meet her heavenly father surrounded by her loving family.

Ginny was a member of Harvest Church of God, Louisville. She was a lifelong follower of Christ with a big heart and a great sense of humor. She was a generous to a fault & outspoken when it came to her unwavering faith in God. She enjoyed fishing, feeding the birds around her house and working the daily crossword puzzle. She was a special and unique lady who will be truly missed.

The family wishes to thank the following people for their loving service and care to our mother/ grandmother: Dallas and Charlotte Jones, Butch and Cheryl Wurth, Jean Chancey, Faye Soupey and Michael Logsdon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lula Gardner; husbands, Wesley Cecil Garr, Sr. and Norbert Donald Oakes; brothers, Charles, William & Robert Gardner, sisters, Gladys Schacklette, Elizabeth Fowler and Eleanor Harris.

She is survived by her son, Wesley Cecil Garr, Jr. (Debbie) and Barbara Raque Jeffries (John); grandchildren, Amy, Jonathan, Michael, Meredith, Erick, Scott, Jr., Nathan, Alex and Max.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Fairdale-McDaniel Funeral Home 411 Fairdale Road, with burial in Coral Ridge Cemetery. Visitation: 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
