Brainer, Eugene Mack,

75 of Louisville passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Jewish Hospital.

He was born December 25, 1938 in Louisville, the son of Mack and Elizabeth Brainer. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joyce Malone.

Gene was a United States Navy veteran and worked as the National Service Officer for AMVETS.

He was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, VFW #1170 Middletown, Post 9 AMVETS. He was the former State Commander for the Robert E. Newman VFW Post #3636 and also a Kentucky Colonel.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Judith Brainer; three daughters, Katonna Montgomery (Michael), Cathy Ratchford (Diedra) and Kimberly S. Argo; one son, Steven N. Brainer; two grandchildren, David Ratchford and Brandon Milburn; one brother, Richard Brainer and four sisters, Kathy Fawbush, Linda Sauer, JoAnn Wallace and Lisa Brainer.

A service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, August 25, 2014 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Burial will take place at 2:00 PM Monday at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY. Visitation will be from 2-7 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project or Ovarian Awareness of Kentucky.
