Forrest Houlette Obituary
62 died at home September 19, 2017. Forrest was Professor of English at Ball State University, where he co-led the Indiana Writing Project. He also taught with Learning Tree International, authored several books on programming, and was Director of Institutional Research at Sullivan University.
Though he enjoyed teaching, Forrest's greatest love was writing. In addition to writing poetry, he also published a novel, "Another Game", under the pen name of Earl Gear.
Forrest was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Wilberta Houlette, and friend Sharon Kingen. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Judy Kasey Houlette, daughter Alexandra Clasen (Tory), siblings Berta Pearson (Norman), Patti Wartinger, Bill Houlette, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2000 Douglass Blvd. 40205, Friend for Life Cancer Support Network, 4003 Kresge Way, Suite 100, 40207, Hosparus Health, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Dr., 40205, or the charity of choice. Visitation is Saturday, October 7, 9 to 11 am at St. Paul UMC, 2000 Douglass Blvd. Memorial service at 11 am.
