JOHNSTON, THOMAS L. JR., 80, of Louisville, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2010 at his home.

He was originally from Springfield, KY, served in the Army during World War II, worked for American General Insurance Co. as an Insurance agent, was a member of the American Legion and NRA and was an avid bingo player.
Thomas is preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Mobley; and grandsons, Benjamin Spalding Jr. and Michael Anthony Coates.
His survivors include his son, Thomas Johnston III (Terri); daughters, Michele West (Jason Coombs), Diane Brazzell (Tom), Carolyn Tarrence (Art); brothers, Richard Johnston (Adrian), James Johnson (Lois), Jessie Johnston (LaVada) and Joseph Johnston; sister, Betty Huber (Joseph); grandchildren, Val, Jimmy, Cody and Blake; and great-granddaughter, Tori.
The funeral service for Thomas will be Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road at noon, with burial to follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
