RIDDLE, MARY JANE, 76, of Louisville, passed away on September 1, 2011, following an extended illness.
The Guest Book is expired.
After graduating from Shawnee High School, she married her husband of 58 years, Lawrence Riddle, and the young couple quickly began a lifetime of adventure by moving to Japan, while Larry served in the U.S. Air Force.
Later, Mary Jane lived in Cincinnati, OH, Charleston, WV and Stamford, CT, before returning home to Louisville in 1969. In each location she made many lifelong friends and was active in numerous organizations, including serving as a coordinator and host for the U.S. National Junior Clay Court Tennis Championship.
A devoted mother, Mary Jane enthusiastically served as a den mother, room mother, and supported her two sons in every aspect of their lives. Mary Jane traveled extensively around the world and enjoyed golf, tennis and snow skiing, but her greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends. She was an active, sociable woman with a radiant smile that she continued to display until her final days. She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church.
She was predeceased earlier the same day by her son, Steven Riddle, M.D.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Riddle; son, Mark Riddle (Robin) and their children, Brittany and Blair; daughter-in-law Trish Riddle and her children, Ross, William and Jennifer; sister, Betty Sue Lerding; niece, Karin Brown (Jon Ukman); and many beloved friends.
Her family wishes to express appreciation to Lori Barry, her devoted care giver and companion during her final years.
Mary Jane's memorial service will be at noon on Tuesday September 6, 2011 at Broadway Baptist Church, 4000 Brownsboro Road, with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2011 at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
Memorial gifts may be made to Broadway Baptist Church.
