GOODWIN, LUTHER L., 87, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012.

He was a member of First Virginia Avenue Baptist Church, a retired employee of E.I. Dupont, and a U.S. Marine veteran. In June 2012, Mr. Goodwin received the Congressional Gold Medal honoring the 1st African American Montford Point Marines.

He was preceded in death by ten siblings.

Mr. Goodwin is survived by his wife, LeAnna Wofford Goodwin; children, Larry Wofford Goodwin, Linda Ann Goodwin, and Leborah Allen Goodwin; grandchildren, Lori Hollowell and Derek Goodwin; great-granddaughter, Zeara Robinson; and sister, Georgia Marie Smith.

Funeral is 10 a.m. Friday at his church, 3601 Virginia Ave., with burial in KY Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the church. Dedication will be held at 7 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to A.D. Porter & Sons, 1300 W. Chestnut St.
