Bertrand Paul Bayens Obituary
BAYENS, BERTRAND PAUL, 85, of Louisville, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Norton Audubon Hospital.

He attended OMOS grade school and was a graduate of St. Xavier High School. Bert was an Army Veteran of World War II and a retired Shipping Foreman of 26 years for Kitchen Kompact. Bert was an active parishioner of St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church, where he was a member of the MOSS Club and the Church choir. His love of bird-watching and gardening his roses was surpassed only by his love for his wife and family.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Louis Bayens, Dee Fischer, Bob Bayens, Paul Bayens, and Dolly Bowlds.

Bert is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy Block Bayens; daughters, Kathy George (Donald), Terry Lenahan (Rodney), Rose Brown (Thomas), Jeannie Strothman (Greg); son, John (Karen); and two brothers, Jim (Mary), Jerry (Pat) Bayens. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He and his family is forever grateful to his physician, Dr. Phil Fitzgerald and his staff at Community Medical Associates.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2012 at St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church, 2931 Pindell Avenue at Hess Lane, with burial in St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Bosse Funeral Home, Barret and Ellison Avenues.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Day Spring or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
