She was born April 3, 1937 to Agnes Barromeo Mudd Thomas and Richard C. Mudd. She was the second of seven children born to the couple on their Springfield, KY dairy farm.
Maryann attended St. Dominic Elementary School and St. Catherine High School. From childhood, she loved to read. She was a 35-year breast cancer survivor. She was very interested in yoga and spiritual studies. She created a beautiful garden oasis in her yard, which gave comfort to many and received recognition as a "Backyard Nature Preserve." School children came to visit the garden to see the plants, flowers, fish and birds that lived there. Maryann assisted her husband in the operation of H. Ford and sons Construction Company and volunteered many hours to feeding the homeless at Wayside Christian Mission.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Harold "Curly" Ford; four children, Carro Ford Weston (Burt), Tony Ford (Teresa), Mark Ford (Laura) and Elaine Ford; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Her father; mother; sister, Nora Rita Mudd, a Dominican nun; brother, Michael Thomas Mudd; and infant son, Tommy Lee Ford, preceded her in death.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 7500 Tangelo Dr. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, children and special friends.
