HOECK, JOHN LUKEN, 86, died peacefully at home with his family on Saturday, December 8, 2012.

Born in Louisville to Louis and Ruth Hoeck, he was a graduate of St. Benedict, St. Xavier High School, and the University of Notre Dame. After graduating from Notre Dame, he returned to Louisville and joined United Mercantile Agency, Inc. where he spent his entire career growing the company and retiring as its chairman. He was a loyal friend and tireless fundraiser for many charitable organizations, especially Holy Spirit Parish, St. Xavier and Notre Dame, and he spent many fall Saturday afternoons cheering on the Irish football team. He was also a member of Big Spring Country Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Louis F. Hoeck.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 64 years, Anne; his children, Gregory (Ann), Joan (Camilla), and Beverly Woock; his grandchildren, Beth Anderson (John) and Tom Hoeck (Victoria) and Laura, Leland, and Lowell Woock; great-grandchildren, Jack, Grace, and Wyatt Anderson; brother, James A. Hoeck; and his extended loving family and friends.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3345 Lexington Road, with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
The family wishes to thank his loyal caregivers Josh Flatt, Shawn Floyd, Rod Gittings, and Damon Wells.
