Married 65 years to the late Albert Shelby, she is survived and treasured by her brother, James C. Wright of Bowling Green; and her children, Penny Shelby of Cleveland, Melinda Shelby (Scott White) of Atlanta, Don Shelby (Elizabeth) of Pleasureville, KY, and Ellen Mattingly (Rick Knapp) of Cleveland.

She was predeceased by her brother, Randall T. Wright of Conway, South Carolina.

She was a member of the St. Matthews Women's Club and a long-time member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church. She retired from the Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau in 1989. Our Margie was a feisty, sassy woman with a warm heart, a ready smile, a strong shoulder, and a wacky and wonderful sense of humor. She loved people, flowers, springtime, music and dancing.

She was a delightful and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother to Karen Shelby (Eric Bakovic; Katya) of San Diego; Kim Cloer (John; Matthew) of Statesville, SC, Mark Douglas (Kelly; Wyatt) of Carmel, IN; Alan Shelby (Krissy; Xander, Kelsey and Luke) of Louisville, Paul Cowan (Diana; Ashleigh and Sean) of Newark, OH; Jason Douglas (Kim; Alia and Max) of Portland, OR; the late Greg Mattingly (Jeana) and Shelby Mattingly of Denver, CO. She called this group her "Grands" and "Greats," and they will forever miss their Gaga who adored them.
