CAMERON, RALPH IRWIN, 87, died peacefully Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at his residence in Jeffersonville, IN.
He was born March 12, 1926, in Louisville, KY to the late Ariel and Leila Cameron.
He was a graduate of Portland Christian High School, class of 1943. He was employed for 38 years at Chemetron Inc. Ralph was a veteran of the U.S. Army and commissioned a Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church for 61 years, serving for more than 50 of those years as the secretary in the Children's Sunday School Department.
He was a former body builder and extreme physical fitness enthusiast, stamp collector, and an avid listener of Big Band and Jazz music and lover of the Sunshine State, residing annually in Naples, FL, during the winter.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years, Mary Jo Ginn.
Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Dorothy Tipton Cameron; sons, Stephen R. (Carol) Cameron, Don A. Cameron, and Gregory S. (Bettina) Cameron; daughter, Lisa C. Lewis; stepson, Stephen D. (Carol) Tipton; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Miller.
Visitation for family and friends will be 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN.
There will also be a visitation on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. preceding the 12 p.m. funeral service at Walnut Street Baptist Church, 1101 South Third Street, Louisville, KY. Burial with military honors will be at Bedford (IOOF) Cemetery in Bedford, KY.
