WHITE, NOVIA JAMES "N.J.," 93, died Saturday May 11, 2013.

He was retired vice president of Independence Life and Accident Insurance Company. He was born November 25, 1919 in Lebanon, KY to Bird Calvin and Elizabeth Veatch White. After graduating from du Pont Manuel High School, he attended the University of Wisconsin and the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).

He was a World War II veteran, serving during the war as a B29 Navigator on Tinian, Mariana Islands with the 20th Air Force, 58th Bomb Wing, 40th Bomb Group and the 13th Air Force in the Philippines after the War. He worked for newspapers in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Atlanta and in 1954 returned to Louisville to work with the Independence Life and Accident Insurance Company. He was a member of the St. Matthews United Methodist Church, The Sons of the American Revolution, Kentuckiana Society of the Order of Founders and Patriots of America, Baronial Order of the Magna Charta, Order of the Crown of Charlemagne in the United States of America, The Newspaper Association of America, American Association of Woodturners, The 20th Air Force, the 58th Bomb Wing and the 40th Bomb Group Associations.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Nannette von Siebenthal White; a daughter, Mrs. George Frederic (Barbara Ann) of Los Altos, CA and Incline Valley Village, NV; sons, Leslie Owen White (Sue) of Lenoir, NC, and William Wesley White of Richmond, VA; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a brother, Robert White (Betty) of North Wales, PA.

Private funeral and burial were held at Cave Hill Cemetery, with arrangements under the direction of Pearson's.
