KECKEISSEN, ARTHUR J. JR., 92, of Louisville, formerly of Sarasota, FL and Seven Lakes, NC, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2013 in the presence of his children, Arthur S. Keckeissen of Sarasota, FL and Judy Morrison Behanan (Russell) of Louisville.

Art was born in East Orange, NJ on July 26, 1920 to Arthur and Marion Allington Keckeissen. He served in World War II as a medic with the 76th division in France and Germany and was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery. Upon returning home, he married Jane Violet Gronlund in 1946 in Cushing, WI. They were married 63 years when Jane passed away in 2010.

After graduating from Upsala College, East Orange, NJ in 1949 with a degree in Accounting, Art began his lifelong career with Tung-Sol Electric/ Wagner Electric in Newark, NJ. In his last position as Director of International Markets, he travelled the world, making many life long friends of different nationalities.

Art and Jane retired to Seven Lakes,NC in 1987 where they enjoyed traveling, golf, gardening, community involvement and their many friends. They were dedicated volunteers for many years for Meals-on-Wheels in Moore County, NC.

Many fond memories of fishing, golfing, boating, ducks and Gpa's firm guidance are shared by his grandchildren, Jennifer Lowinger of Lawrenceville, NJ; Steven Keckeissen (Melanie) of Mt. Pleasant, MI; Craig H. Sawayer of Louisville, and Lauren M. Sawayer of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Our family would like to express our grateful appreciation to the staff and residents of Arden Courts of Louisville for their boundless loving care, kindness, and friendship.

Our Dad had a soft spot in his heart for those he felt were less fortunate and tried to protect those individuals even when he was failing. He was a fair and generous man and his final act of generosity was to donate his body to the University of Louisville Medical School so others might benefit.

A memorial service celebrating Art's life will be held at a later date.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Moore County Dept. of Aging, Home Delivered Meals Program, PO Box 487, Carthage, NC 28327 or of Greater Louisville, 6100 Dutchman's Lane, Louisville, KY 40205.
