CHRISTIAN, RICHARD L., 81, died suddenly at home on May 29, 2013. He was a native of Rhode Island, the son of the late George and Anna Christian. A younger brother, James, died in California.
The Guest Book is expired.
He is survived by his older brother, Father Dr. George Christian, OP, of St. Louis Bertrand Priory (6th & St. Catherine), Louisville. Mr. Christian was a graduate of Providence College (RI) and received two graduate degrees (MA and EdM) from Harvard University (MA). After a brief span teaching at elementary school level, he found several jobs in business (Boston area, MA). When the financial downturn hit, he moved to Louisville. Following a few months with Civil Service, he was hired as Buyer at UofL Hospital (under its various names), from which he retired in 1998. For many years, Mr. Christian and his brother George engaged in genealogical research and provided their findings to several individuals and institutions, including the Mormon Genealogical Library. Within the past two years especially, they have spent their time translating works from French to English (and a few from English to French). Some of their materials have been posted on the Internet, others are on file in genealogical libraries.
Mr. Christian's body is to be cremated with later burial in St. Rose Cemetery, Springfield, KY. Funeral pending.
Memorial donations may be made to Dominican Fathers, St. Louis Bertrand Priory.
