VANOVER, JOHN W., JR., 80, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013.

John was a native of Louisville, KY, a retired employee of Hillerich & Bradsby, an Army veteran during the Korean War, charter member of St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church and St. Vincent de Paul Society.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara J. (Gonyea) Vanover; and his siblings, Aurelia Terry, Mary Weilage, Dorothy Meyer, Edward, Jim and Raymond Vanover.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Beth Culver (Joe), Diane Vanover (Doug); a son, Mike Vanover (Brenda); seven sisters, Norma Fry (Bob), Clara Rosenbaum (Joe), Jackie Dowdle (Dan), Betty Zipperle, Delores Moody (Bob), Linda Clark (Tim), Judy Pescador (Simon); five grandchildren, Eric (Julie) and Brandon Culver (Samantha), Michael, Steven and Amy Vanover; and two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Benjamin Culver.

Special thanks are extended to the staff of Wesley Manor Retirement Community for their compassionate care during Dad's illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2013 at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church, 1816 Rangeland Road, with burial to follow in St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 2 - 8 p.m. at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road.

Expressions of sympathy may go to St. Vincent de Paul Society - St. Ignatius Chapter.
