RUSCHIVAL, MARY LENA, born September 13, 1945, passed away on August 1, 2013.
The Guest Book is expired.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents, Alta Lee Smith and Adam Charles Ruschival.
She is survived by her siblings, Martha Murrell (Doug), Adam Ruschival III (Carla), Neil Ruschival (Martha) and Keith Ruschival (Barbara), her nine perfect nieces and nephews and her beloved pets, Bob the dog and Charlie the cat.
A native Louisvillian, Lena graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and Murray State University after attending Ursuline College. She received her Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from East Carolina State University, then attended the University of Louisville and became a certified public account.
During her varied career path she was the psychologist for the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, the chief financial officer for various companies and non-profits, and retired as a revenue agent for the Internal Revenue Services.
Her passion was choral music especially as a member of the Louisville Choral Arts Society, and choirs of St. Francis of the Fields Episcopal Church and other churches.
She was also an active member of the Louisville East Lions Club, serving as president 2011-2012, and contributed many volunteer hours to the Kentucky School for the Blind Alumni Association.
As her last act of generosity, Lena bequeathed her body to the University of Louisville for medical research. Upon its return, a memorial celebration will be scheduled.
The family would like to thank all of those who lovingly supported Lena throughout her journey with cancer, and requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the Louisville East Lions Club, the HHT Foundation International, the Norton Healthcare Foundation for use by the Norton Cancer Institute On-going Services and Support Group programs, or to ovarian cancer research organizations.
