Robert James O'Neil Obituary
O'NEIL, ROBERT JAMES, passed away on August 28, 2013 at his home, surrounded by family.

Bob was born on May 27, 1928 in Winsted, CT, where he attended the Gilbert School. He enlisted and served two years in the in the US Marine Corp. Following his military service, he attended the University of Connecticut. Upon his graduation, he started a career in sales and marketing within the consumer electronics industry. During his tenures at companies including GE, Admiral, RCA ,and Sylvania, he became a pioneer in the development of color television marketing . Known by his colleagues as "Battling Bob", his work allowed him to travel the world, and to live in several US cities including Louisville, Indianapolis, Buffalo, Tampa, Chicago, and Los Angeles. He finished his career in LA, where he was executive vice president at Hitachi Sales Corporation of America.

A man of many interests and talents, he also co-founded a small real estate investment company in 1976, with his wife Sara, as well as published two books.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Caroline aka " Quinnie" and Jack. He was caregiver to the "creatures of the night", which he fed from his back porch every night. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan, which brought him many years of joy (and sometimes sorrow).

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sara; his sister, Jane; plus a large family of children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 10 a.m. to noon at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane, followed immediately with a service honoring his life.

Expressions of sympathy can be made to Hosparus.
