MSgt. Ivan Earl Macrander

MACRANDER, MSGT. IVAN EARL USAF, (RET), 78, of Hanover, IN, formerly of Louisville, KY, entered this life on October 11, 1934, son of the late, Ben C. Macrander and Mary Orr (Hewitt) Barko.

He was raised in Patriot, IN, where he attended Patriot High School. Ivan was inducted into the United States Army, rising to the rank of Private E2, serving during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on April 6, 1951. He was inducted into the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Airman First Class, serving during the Korean War & the Vietnam War and retired as a Master Sergeant on February 1, 1978, after 22 years, 5 months & 1 day of service. Ivan was united in marriage on February 14, 1981, in Vevay, IN, to Deanna Scott. He retired on June 6, 1996 as a Postal Sorter from the US Postal Service in Louisville, KY. Ivan was a life member of the Corydon VFW Post #2950 & and life member of the Vevay VFW Post #5396. He died at 1:30 a.m. Friday, in Hanover, IN.

Survivors: wife, Deanna Macrander of Hanover, IN; sons, Mike Macrander of Lexington, IN, and Gayle Macrander of Brooksburg, IN; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services: Monday, September 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Ceremonial Unit from the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base at the Cemetery. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013, at the funeral home.
