GERSTNER, MATTHEW SCOTT, 45, of Louisville, KY, was granted eternal peace on Sunday, October 20, 2013.
Born in Salt Lake City, UT, on August 30, 1968, Matthew enlisted in the U.S. Army in September 1990 and was married to Lori Elliott Gerstner on November 5, 1999. He graduated from Sullivan University Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Culinary Arts in September 2001.
Matthew was a chef by trade and a veteran of the Gulf War as a member of the U.S. Army 75th Ranger Regiment. He loved fishing, the outdoors, practicing and teaching his survival skills to others.
Survived by his loving wife, Lori Gerstner; daughter, Jordan McEuen (Sean); mother, Carole Gibson (Michael); father, Larry Gerstner (Cheryl); sister, Stacy Waters; step-brothers, Mark Gibson (Jeanine), Matthew Gibson (Allison), Mitchell Gibson (Lorna); and a large extended family of nephews, nieces, and in-laws.
A Celebration of Matthew's life will be held Monday, October 28, 2013 7 p.m. at Gerstle's Place. 3801 Frankfort Ave. (Children are welcome). Visitation will be Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. followed by Liturgy of the Word at 6 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes, 508 Breckenridge Ln.
