WEDDING, LT. COL. GEORGE W. USAF (RET), 85, formerly of Rushville, IN, passed away at his daughter's home in Clark County, IN on February 20, 2014.

George was born December 7, 1928 in Elizabeth, IN to Rev. H.G. & Jean (Weller) Wedding. He was a 1946 graduate of Arlington High School, attended Butler University and later graduated from Colorado College with his BA in general education. George spent the next 22 years in the Navy and Air Force. He married Theresa (Kane) on January 3, 1948. After retiring from the USAF, George and Theresa moved to Jeffersonville and lived there nearly 22 years. They returned to Rush County in 2000.
George served in the US Navy during World War II from 1946-1948 and in the Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam wars from 1951-1971 when he retired as a lieutenant colonel. He was a command pilot with the following decorations: Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with oak leaf cluster, WWII Victory Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal with two battle stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Outstanding Unit Award with an oak leaf cluster.
He was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Rushville, the Rushville American Legion Post #150, the former Rushville VFW #1541, Rushville BPOE #1307, New Washington Masonic Lodge #167 F&AM where he was Past Master and the Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite and the Vietnam Vets of America.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa; a daughter, Cynthia (Michael Bush), of New Washington, IN; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, George Jr., brothers, Edwin and Jack and sisters, Betty Fulk and Miriam Lee.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, with Rev. Jan Dimick presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from 11a.m. until time of service on Monday. There will be an Elk's Memorial Service at the mortuary just prior to service time. Burial with full military rites will be held at the Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Rush County.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rush County Community Foundation or the St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
